Israelites- a member of the ancient Hebrew nation, especially in the period from the Exodus to the Babylonian Captivity.
Monotheism- the doctrine or belief that there is only one God.
Abraham- Abraham, is the first of the three Biblical patriarchs. His story, told in chapters 11 through 25 of the Book of Genesis, plays a prominent role as of example of faith in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
Jacob- Jacob( later given the name Israel) is considered a patriarch of the Israelites. According to the Book of Genesis. He is the son of Isaac and Rebecca, the grandson of Abraham, Sarah and of Bethel, and the you twin brother of Esau, Jacob had twelve sons and at least one daughter, by his two wives, Leah and Rachel, and by their handmaidens Bilhah and Zilpah.
12 Tribes- The Twelve Tribes, formerly known as the Vine Christian Community Church, Northeast Kingdom Community Church, the Messianic Communities, and the Community Apostolic Order is an international confederation of religious communities founded by Gene Spriggs (now known as Yoneq) that sprang out of the Jesus Movement in 1972 .
Canaan- The name Canaan is used commonly in the Hebrew Bible, with particular definition in references Genesis 10 and Number 34, where the Land of Canaan extends from Lebanon southward to the Brook of Egypt and eastward to the Jordan River Valley.
Hebrew- is a member of the Canaanite group of Semitic languages. It was the language of the early Jews, but from 586 BC it started to be replaced by Aramaic.
Covenant- A biblical covenant is a religious covenant that is described in the Bible. All Abrahamic religions consider biblical covenants important. Of the covenants found in the Pentateuch or Torah, the Noahic Covenant is unique in applying to all humanity, while the other covenants are principally agreements made between God and the biblical Israelites. In the Book of Jeremiah, verses 31:30-33 predict a new covenant that God will establish with Israel and Judah.
Moses- The existence of Moses,as well as the veracity of the Exodus story, is disputed among archaeologists and egyptologists, with experts in the field of biblical criticism citing logical inconsistencies, new archaeological evidence, historical evidence, and related origin myths in canaanite culture.
Passover- from Hebrew, is an important, biblically derived jewish festival. The jewish people celebrate passover as a commemoration of their liberation by God from slavery in Egypt and their freedom as a nation under the leadership of Moses.
Mount Sinai- is a 2,285 metre 7,497ft moderately high mountain near the city of Saint Catherine in the Sinai region. It is next to Mount Catherine at 2,629m or 8,625ft, the highest peak in Egypt.
Torah- torah instruction teaching, or the pentateuch is the central reference of the religious judaic tradition. It has a range of meanings. It can most specifically mean the first five books of the twenty-four books of the Tanakh, and it usually includes the rabbinic commentaries.
Jericho- Jericho is described in the Hebrew Bible as the "City of Palm Trees". Copious springs in and around the city attracted human habitation for thousands of years.
10 Commandments-The Ten Commandments, also known as the Decalogue, are a set of commandmentswhich the Bible describes as being given to the Israelites by God at biblical Mount Sinai. The Ten Commandments appear twice in the Hebrew Bible, first at Exodus 20:1–17, and then at Deuteronomy 5:4–21.
Rule Of The Law-is the legal principle that law should govern a nation, as opposed to being governed by arbitrary decisions of individual government officials.
The Promised Land-the land of Canaan, which was promised to Abraham and his descendants (Gen. 12:7).
Deborah-Judges chapter 5 gives the same story in poetic form. This passage, often called The Song of Deborah, may date to as early as the 12th century BC and is perhaps the earliest sample of Hebrew poetry. It is also significant because it is one of the oldest passages that portrays fighting women, the account being that of Jael, the wife of Heber, a Kenitetent maker.
Phoenicians-Phoenicia is really a Classical Greek term used to refer to the region of the major Canaanite port towns, and does not correspond exactly to a cultural identity that would have been recognised by the Phoenicians themselves. The term in Greek means 'land of purple', a reference to the valuable murex-shell dye they exported.
